Constructing a Collective Ambition for a Team with LEGO® Serious Play®
Every so often a client captures exactly why we do what we do.
LEGO® Serious Play® isn’t about bricks. It’s about creating the conditions for better thinking, richer conversations and shared understanding. When people build first and explain second, ideas emerge that rarely surface in a conventional meeting.
We were delighted to work with the Brand, Marketing and Experience Enablement team at Lloyds Banking Group, helping colleagues from across the function explore what they’ll need to thrive in an agentic future.

From Laura Scott
Jake is five and has recently discovered LEGO. Which meant, for the first time in years, I picked up a handful of bricks too.
What surprised me was what happened in my head. For the first time in ages, the constant mental chatter switched off. I felt completely present, creative and absorbed in what I was building. It was a feeling I’d almost forgotten.
That feeling sent me down a ChatGPT rabbit hole, where I discovered 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗼𝗳 “𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄”, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗮𝘁 Make Happy .
It turns out this isn’t just a feeling. ✨
Building something with our hands activates different parts of the brain, helping us think more creatively, spot patterns and step back from the detail to see the bigger picture.
𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁.
Last week, our full BMX Enablement Team came together for the first time.
Mike Thorne and Adrian Crawford kicked off the morning by challenging us to think about where our team needs to go in a world of agentic AI and the mindset shift needed to get us there.
Then, I invited Make Happy in to help us build on those ideas, literally.
I was nervous… but it worked 👏😍
🟢 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲: teams moved from doing the work to seeing the wider system around it.
🟢 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲: Building individually meant every perspective shaped the outcome, not just the loudest voice
🟢 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 ++ People shared stories and experiences they probably wouldn’t have in a traditional workshop.
(Teams build stronger trust when they know each other as people, not just colleagues. In a hybrid world, those moments matter more than ever.)
More importantly, despite coming from different teams, disciplines and perspectives, we found ourselves 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. None of us planned that narrative, it simply emerged.
Maybe that’s the real power of play? Giving people the space, and the bricks, to build it together. 🙏
Thank you to everyone who helped make our full team day such a success – I’m excited to see what we build.
